Summer Getaway: Musandam, Oman

Travel

Winter is almost over in UAE and I am sure most of you are looking already for places to getaway and enjoy the summer heat that’s why I am going to share with you one of the go-to-places near UAE, the Musandam in Sultanate of Oman.

We went to Musandam, Oman last year (Yeah! this post is VERY late but worth sharing). We saw our tour package in HUNTURDEALS that offers discount vouchers under Pranav Tourism. You will see the price difference when you check both website. This is a tip I can share to you guys whether you are a residence or a tourist in UAE. Dubai is well-known for offering many great deals no matter what it is, food, travel, adventure, and so much more before booking to any travel agencies check first all the great deals that Dubai offers but also make sure that it is legit.

The meeting place is in Spinney’s Supermarket next to Burjuman Center near ADCB Metro Station at 7:00 to 7:15 in the morning. They will give you all the driver details after 9pm on the previous evening of the tour and you need to bring your original passport with visa on the day of the tour the same with the guests on visit or tourist visa must also carry their copy. Going to Oman, you can ride a plane or bus. But for this tour they provide a tourist bus. Also, note that this is only a one day trip so be sure to have all your gadgets charged or bring a power bank with you and sleep early before the day of the tour as you will need all the energy you have.

There will be stopovers along the way since it is a long drive. The total distance from Dubai to Khasab, Oman is 200kms and total travel time is 2-3 hours including the border crossing and stopovers.

Visa regulation, entry and exit at the border:

Once you cross RAK, there is a UAE border check post (Passport section) where police will check your passport and visa. There will be no queue, maybe you will complete this process in 10 minutes and approach towards the Omani border. Also, there will be checking and applications but don’t worry since you are on tour, your tour guide will do it for you. This will take almost 30-40 minutes since there are many tourist crossing the border.

There is no prior visa required for UAE residents (UAE visa holders). Tourists with UAE single entry visa are not permitted to cross the border.

Once you reach Khasab, you need to go to the harbor, which is the meeting point for all the boats and from there you can start your unforgettable sea journey. The package also includes soft drinks and tasty lunch. Usually there are 15-20 people in one boat.
